'Grow your own - Step three...potting on' was created for a competition at Potfest in the Park 2006 titled 'Ceramics in the Garden'. Inspiration for this piece was taken from a previous piece 'Don't eat the daisies', porcelain sunflowers on copper stems which won the Peers' Prize in 2005. 'Grow your own' consists of porcelain seed packets, peat pots, plant labels and ceramic seedlings accompanied by a set of ceramic gardening tools. The photos were taken of the piece nestled between the broad beans and the potatoes within the Walled Garden at Pendle Heritage Centre, Barrowford during the 'Flowers' Exhibition of work by Julie and fellow Higherford Mill artist Jacqueline Smith.
